More Puppy Love....

On the way home from church, we ventured out of the air-conditioned van into the 105 degree heat in order to get Dash more dog food. Our kids adore the Animal Jungle pet store in Alpine; it's family-owned and operated (i.e., not part of a huge chain), and the owner has been a wonderful resource for us. E purchased Ronald, her rat, here, and we are happy to spend an extra two dollars for the dog food and support a family-owned business. The store also has pets availble for adoption, and the owner always encourages us to open the cages and love on the critters. I fell for a long-haired red dachshund/cocker mix while J favored an adorable chihuahua mix. But this tri-terrier jumped right out of the cage and into E's arms. If she had had $225 in her pocket, I think we would have added a second dog to the family today....

Very cute! I think the owners are wise to encourage customers to love on the dogs while shopping! ;)

I should add, too, that these are shelter puppies/dogs, not puppies from those horrid farms. This pet store only sells rescue cats/dogs, although they do sell rats, hamsters, rabbits, etc. that are hand-raised. In fact, the lady who raised E's rat wanted to know who bought him and that the buyers would be good rat caretakers. :) Such a personal touch!
